COURSES TO LEARNING ABOUT EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
The Agorà Orsi Coppini Museum organizes a learn-by-playing experience for students. They will discover the secrets ofolive oil, starting from the tree all the way to the finished product.
Through a cartoons and game cards, the pupils become familiar with extra virgin olive oil tasting techniques and learn to appreciate its aromas, qualities, defects, and cooking uses.
THE ABC OF TASTING OLIVE OIL
A sensory analysis of Extra Virgin Olive Oil follows precise rules. The basic tasting course teaches how distinguish a good extra virgin olive oil from a defective one, or how to choose the one you like the most.
Extra virgin olive oil are classified mainly by categories of fruitiness. They can be light, average and intense, based on the degree of ripeness of the olives and the type of cultivar (that is, the variety of olive used, of which there are than 200 in Italy today)! Once you have learned how to recognise the qualities and defects, the choice between the various types of extra virgin olive oil is then based on personal taste and cooking uses.
